About Assay Markets

Assay Markets records the list prices of cultivated meat's production inputs. Each day it takes the published list price of every tracked input — growth media, cell lines, scaffolds and reagents — writes it to a log that is never edited, and joins that record to published research.

What is recorded

Vendor list prices, as published, once a day. Every pack size is its own series, so a change is only ever measured within one exact product.

A price per litre or per milligram where the pack quantity is known, by the method on the Methodology page.

Research records from Cellag Bio: species, cell type, media, culture system and outcome for each study, with the paper it comes from.

Which of the components named in that research are sold, by whom, and at what recorded price.

What is not recorded

No modelled figures. Assay Markets does not compute a cost per kilogram, forecast a price, or estimate what a process will cost. Where such figures are needed they belong to techno-economic models, and are attributed to those models by name.

Sources

Prices are recorded from Cellbase (cellbase.com), a marketplace for cultivated meat inputs. Research records come from Cellag Bio (cellag.bio). Both are ventures of the Cultigen Group. Assay Markets does not sell inputs, set prices or hold stock; it records prices as vendors publish them.

Citing a figure

The required form is "Source: Assay Markets, observed [date]." Every figure on the site carries its observation date, and the method behind each number is public.
